Explore operational UK wind projects
Find onshore and offshore wind projects recorded as operational in the government’s Renewable Energy Planning Database. Search by postcode and select a project for its published operator, capacity and turbine information. Use the optional DTT, DAB and FM layers to explore nearby broadcast transmitter locations.
Free to exploreDESNZ · July 2026Markers are project reference locations, not individual turbine positions or wind-farm boundaries. Distances are measured in a straight line from the postcode centre to the project reference point.
Switch each layer on or off independently. The postcode search distance also applies to transmitter layers. The project type and project text filters apply to wind projects only.
Location information only. These overlays do not predict broadcast coverage or reception impacts. They do not calculate terrain screening, interference, turbine scattering or signal strength. A nearby transmitter may not serve your address.

About this map
Optional broadcast transmitter layers
DTT main / primary stations use larger red markers; relays and other DTT sites use smaller green markers with dark outlines. Wind projects use a three-bladed turbine symbol in the conventional OS map style: charcoal for onshore and ochre for offshore, with a white halo for clarity. Each symbol marks the DESNZ project reference point, not an individual turbine position. Main-station classification matches the standalone DTT map and is based on Ofcom’s primary-transmitter designation.
The DTT, DAB and FM overlays reuse the fixed Ofcom snapshots in GTech’s transmitter maps. DTT: 1,133 mapped sites, source file dated 8 October 2024. DAB: 723 mapped sites. FM: 916 mapped sites covering 88–108 MHz. The radio source page was updated 5 August 2026; all three datasets were retrieved 17 October 2026. They are not live transmitter-status feeds. A DTT record marked as not on-air in the source is explicitly labelled in its details.
Sites shared by different broadcast networks retain a separate entry in each enabled layer. Concentric coloured markers distinguish overlapping sites; use the transmitter list to select any obscured marker. DTT main / primary stations use larger red markers, while relays and other DTT sites use smaller green markers with dark outlines. DAB markers are orange and FM markers are blue with dark outlines. Your postcode uses a blue marker with a white outline. Services and multiplexes are reproduced where available; missing fields are shown as “Not supplied”.

This snapshot contains 834 operational project records: 785 onshore and 49 offshore. A record may represent a wind farm, an extension, a phase or a single-turbine project. Counts refer to database records, rather than unique wind farms. Separate phases and extensions are retained with their DESNZ reference numbers.
Only projects classified as operational in the July 2026 REPD extract are included. This is a dated project register, not a live turbine-status feed. It does not confirm whether a particular turbine is generating today.
The REPD tracks UK renewable electricity projects over 150 kW. Its threshold was 1 MW until 2021, so some older projects below 1 MW may be absent. Smaller turbines are outside its scope. This map is therefore not a complete census of all UK turbines.
Published Eastings and Northings are retained. Map positions are converted using OSGB36 / British National Grid, extended to the source’s Northern Ireland and offshore reference points. Positions are indicative project references; their numerical precision does not establish surveyed accuracy. The source’s turbine-height field is reproduced without assuming it means hub height or tip height.
Blank source fields are shown as “Not supplied”. The operator field may identify an applicant rather than the current owner. No turbine model or manufacturer is inferred.
