GTech Surveys Limited

We are a telecommunications consultancy, able to discharge planning conditions and support planning application submissions concerning digital connectivity, telecommunications, television, radio, and mobile phone reception matters. We conduct technically complex and specialised radio frequency (RF) signal surveys and coverage assessments throughout the UK and beyond. We undertake radio and TV signal reception surveys (baseline and post-construction radio and TV reception impact assessments for due diligence and planning requirements; supporting planning application submissions, discharging planning conditions and resolving S106 agreement schedules), digital and broadband connectivity assessments, TETRA (Airwave) radio network surveys and 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS), 4G (LTE) and 5G (NR) mobile phone signal surveys and network coverage assessments. Additionally, we conduct RF, radio and TV interference investigations and provide telecommunications planning support and advice for construction companies, property developers, architects, local planning authorities (LPAs) and renewable energy scheme operators.

Since our inception in 2006, we have continually refined interference and impact modelling software (combined with RF survey techniques) to assess the television, radio and telecommunications interference that may arise from a proposed or operational wind turbine or wind farm. In addition to wind farm television interference modelling and signal reception surveys, for other proposed developments we offer Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping input and produce Environmental Statement (ES) Telecommunications and Electronic Interference chapters, consulting with stakeholders when required, and satisfying Part 5, Regulation 18 (Parts 5a and 5b) of The Town and Country Planning EIA Regulations 2017. We can peer review ES telecommunications work, assist developers in discharging planning conditions and appease Section 106 agreements (Town and Country Planning Act 1990) and Section 75 agreements (Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997) relating to television and radio interference, telecommunications or any other digital connectivity matter.

We are able to assess and verify outdoor mobile network coverage (2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G from any height between ground level to +13m above ground level (AGL)) and undertake in-building mobile phone network coverage assessments (including those required for WiredScore Certification). We are involved with the UK’s ongoing digital terrestrial television (DTT) upgrade project, working with the primary organisations involved: Arqiva, Everyone TV and Ofcom. We also undertake television and radio (Freeview, VHF FM radio and DAB) service coverage assessments.

GTech Surveys Limited is a consultant member of the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) and we hold Gold Membership with Constructionline. We are verified as a Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) member by Safety Management Advisory Services (SMAS), making us compliant with the Common Assessment Standard (CAS). Only professionally recognised broadcast trained project engineers produce and deliver Markel UK insured technical products to support planning application submissions, discharge planning conditions (including S106 agreements) and for due diligence to provide risk assessments and interference mitigation solutions for existing, proposed and consented new development. To ensure good cyber security in our systems and supply chains, we hold an up to date Cyber Essentials certificate.
